The information about printer meter readings, supply levels and printer error states, that has been gathered periodically from the FSM client software, is transferred to the FSM server. This menu screen allows the configuration of the time intervals, that should be used for data gathering and transfer to the FSM server, and also the configuration of the data transfer method.
Data Acquisition
The section 'Data Acquisition' allows the configuration of the time intervals that should be used from the FSM client software for querying the network printing systems. An immediate querying of the network printing systems can be initiated by clicking on the 'Acquire now' button.
To encrypt the acquired data a password has to be configured.
The FSM client software offers optional support for docuFORM GPD (Global Printer Driver) systems. To activate this, please mark the appropriate checkbox. If the FSM client software should provide the acquired data to a GPD system exclusively and not send it to a FSM server, the option 'Enable data transfer to FSM Server' needs to be unchecked.
Data Transfer
The method of data transferring of the information, monitored from the network printing systems, to the FSM server can be specified within the 'Data Transfer' section of this configuration menu. The timeframe and time interval for data transmission to the FSM server, and also the method, that should be used for data transmission, and the necessary configuration items for the selected transmission method, can be entered here.
Depending on the security requirements of the respective customer, the transmission of the gathered printing system data can be done either via email transfer, XML-RPC or HTTP(S) connection. This requires, depending on the selected transmission method, either the specification of the FSM servers email address, or the specification of the host address of the FSM server. In case of HTTP(S) there must be an upload url defined. This url depends on the configuration of the used web server. Normally you will use https://<hostname> if you want a SSL crypted connection on port 443.
By choosing 'XML-RPC & Email' the data may be transferred by XML-RPC and in parallel to another server per e-mail.
The FSM server uses source identifier names to identify the respective client or customer.
Printer Messages
Within this configuration section, the user can decide, which printer messages should be monitored and which of them should be transmitted as soon as possible to the FSM server after they have been recognized by the FSM client software. In the Selection tab you can mark all messages which should be monitored and in the Priority tab you choose the messages which should be transferred independently from the transfer interval in a timely fashion. Printer messages that have not been selected here, are transmitted to the FSM server together with the frequent meter readings and toner levels.
To accept all configuration settings, please click on the 'Apply' button. Clicking on the 'Send data now' button initiates an immediate data transfer of all gathered data from the FSM client software to the FSM server. In case of misconfiguration outstanding mails can be deleted by clicking the 'Clear email queue' button.
